202 , jams and innovation....

So, this week the 202 loop in Phoenix has been a pleasure to be on.......Reaching home in 20 mins. During peak hour w/out hearing the same cd 2 times over.....BLISS!!!:-)
Ask anyone about the agony of trying to reach Tempe through the Loop 202 East and worse - t he connection between Az 51 and 202 - which is but a spindly arm swooping out into the sky and back into chaos.......
On regular days of peak hour traffic - its hell to reach that arm, but if you land up on it at night, its pleasure abound to be on it, where u feel at peace with the sky, planes, and city lights all around. .........before crashing back to reality...
But this week funnily - innovation struck ...........and the remedy to all 202 jams seemed to be a speed monitor .....or regulator. It struck me in an instant that the various speeds of various cars was the mail culprit and cause of jams.........so tadaaaaaaaaa - what if..what if only at that stretch all vehicles were regulated to a standard speed - voila - problemo solved.........is it remotely possible? is it morally right? is it a sign of technology and third parties controlling our lives...........is it fair to lose our pleasure of driving (even the automated cars), which many of us value?

ah well innovation just got stricken by practicality - but am sure some ingenious mind out there is figuring it all out ...........and waiting to charm the world .........

Welcome to the world of transportation .......

Bid adieu to the Routemasters:-(

Alas!!! London just bid adieu to the Routemasters - their darling infamous double decker buses....These are being replaced by the more disabled friendly VLA's. Guess with convenience and fairness to all users - we lose out on some aspects typical of the past.Hence......all for good..........:)
Now back to the double decker buses - rode them in Mumbai earlier and then managed to ride them in London also...and wow are they fun!!!
The kick comes when you sit in the upper deck and right up in front- feels as though u are careening into the houses and the buildings - do try it - it feels freakily awesome.......:):):)

Now to trains - isn't it fun to discuss transport stuff ..well wosup Kartik did send me a link to a story in www.rediff.com, about a train to Lhasa. Isn't that awesome!!!!. I hope its true and the Chinese have all intentions of allowing us souls to travel to a place near heaven........ahhhh - Tibet...it sure is one of the places to see just due to its secluded mystical charm. The cold desert sitting in the midst of nowhere........hmmmmmmmmm.........guess should watch Seven Years in Tibet - again !!!

Ok guess I got to work now - will add pics on Hyd "international" airport soon- forwarded by vela people like me!!)

The Valley and the blues...

So.. my josh level of writing a blog everyday went down rapdily and now after futile attempts to find other stuff to do during lunch hour on a day of fasting, am finally back to blogger.com, to write some more inconsequential, utterly random, supposedly insightful tid-bits to every bored mind which aimlessly wanders into this path, landing up here due to random searches in the hyper-space.

hokay..so I just killed you all with sheer CRAP..now whoever survived shall read on :)

Absolutely trippin' on the blues and jazz. - really love the smooth jazz channel ...KYOT - hear it while going to office and back, and well in the office too, as the person who sits nearby has it on from the minute he steps in :) IT is awesome and now they have it playing on the web too - www.kyot.com.
Am currently enjoying the variations and the original, of course, of "Barcelona Nights" and like the fact that the website lists the songs playing on radio. (Helps locating the song u just heard and want rightaway :))
The next one I like - is by Grover Washington Jr. called "Soulful Struts" - How apt it is for a name....

Guess now I look to the Valley to give me company to attend live jazz music and hear those blues away :) Anyone interested ? Let me know....

Back to the Valley - nothing much happening in the year end - might get a chance to attend "Nutcracker" which is playing at the onset of the Christmas Season - Hope it is as beautiful live as on T.V. - Thats one thing to look forward to -amongst other things like -

AID volunteer dinner - if that materialises on a day when I can make it
Office Dinner
Gifts giving
Growing older on a day celebrated as the B'day -
Managing to find some friends who will come along for dinner on "the" day- ('cos no one knows its ur b'day in a new city.........)

so lets see how this month goes........till then will enjoy the cold weather and the jazz..:)
